An Easter Ensemble

Hello Easter. Not a big holiday for me, buutt an opportunity to dress WASP-y and have a morning cocktail. Then a quick scene change/costume change before it's off to snuggle babes and pups.

Check it:

Glamour Shots

These are some fantastic pictures of my ancestry--primarily my father's family. These include his parents, his mother's parents, and a whole lot of glamour. I'll point out those I know and other notable items from the photos. Please take note of the striking resemblance of my young father and Ralph Maccio.

This is my dad on the left, with his parents. There are 12 cups on the table.

Same family, years later. Note the resemblance to Ralph. Also, my grandmother's stoll has a face still on it.
This is my poor grandmothers 1st Communion photo. This should be outlawed.
This is my poor graeat Aunt's 1st Communion photo. This should also be outlawed.
I'm not quite sure why my great Aunt is sitting upon a Shetland pony. Hit me up with your best idea.
This is my great grandfather with my great Aunt.
This is me, wearing my great aunt's FABULOUS dress.*

White (Sand) Christmas

I was super lucky to go to Barbados over Christmas with my family, aunt and husband. We had a great time relaxing on the white sandy beaches, diving, eating, golfing, swimming, drinking, boating, playing volleyball and the other usual vacation activities.

Here are some shots of the trip:

Thanksgiving

What a Thanksgiving! For the first time ever, I stayed put. My family flew into Connecticut to visit with my brothers before driving to Mass. My parents were such good sports, being carted from location to location. They had a great big weekend of meeting in-laws, friends and boyfriends. But, we had an excellent time!

There was one fairly memorable moment: we were sitting in the living room of my sister's in-laws, just having a post-lunch discussion when all of a sudden there was a tremendous explosion sound. The noise was unbelievable and fairly hard to describe, but think gun-shot loud. So, everybody jumped up to make sure no one was hurt and figure out the mystery of exactly what had happened.

After a quick examination, we found the culprit. A broad tip hawk was chasing prey and forgot to take a gander in front of him and he crashed directly into the picture window above the kitchen sink. The window shattered, sending glass and all the windowsill decorations flying.

We got the window taped up, but everybody was a bit jumpy around loud noises after that.

Here are some holiday pictures:

One Hell of a Disco!

For my brother-in-law's  40th birthday soiree, my sister coordinated a hell of a disco party. She went all out and the costumes were fierce. Kudos to the new, young neighbors whose introduction to Harvard, Ma included all their drunken elder's in platforms, wigs and psychedelic glitter tops.

There was a DJ, a bartender, 20 cases of beers, 10 handles of hard alcohol, one a-mazing vodka/pineapple concoction, and tons of food. The "dance floor" was hysterical and I was left wondering how you took any business man seriously in tight, plaid pants. How did anyone ever accomplish anything?

Here are some pre-party photos, *sorry no costume pictures-I was too busy flittering about.

Announcement

I'm hopelessly in love. Look at these faces and tell me you don't understand. They have completely stolen my heart, collectively. In related news, my sister throws one hell of a party (but that's for tomorrow!).

Glorious Return!

I made it back from the Lou, heavier in body and lighter in photos (400+ lighter, thanks very much Apple store).

We had a great time and ran around like mad people and ate and drank and were merry. Thanks to my family for the birthday celebration(s). My Aunt Barb came in from Chicago which was super fun. Sadly, my pictures are mostly kaput from delicious Saint Louis restaurant Niche, but rest assured, it was a delightful dinner.

Here are some photos, taken by Barb's husband Peter of the sites in my neighborhood. I've learned that I prefer stone houses, particularly white stones, to New England style.

Enjoy!

Unexpected Outage

Hi,

I'm visiting my family and friends in St. Louis without much posting as this week zoooooms by. Back next week, kiddos. Enjoy the weekend!

PS Decided I'm buying a Flip camera to save some memories for posterity's sake. Watch out for ACH videos coming down the line.

Well, that was fast!

Each Christmas, my family flies away from the cold and takes a tropical vacation. We opted to bow out of family obligations some years ago when the logistics (read: a divorce) made it too complicated to juggle. Also, family celebrations=family drama and honestly, who has the energy? [It seems like your grown child has wet his pants again and is now rolling on the rug. Care to address it?]

But, because my dad has ADHD, the decisions don't come easy. For instance, we had decided last year around May that we should go to Hawaii. Tickets were not booked until OCTOBER because my father just wouldn't commit.

So imagine my surprise after my Anguilla post when we started to talk vacations. I figured it would be tons of miserable conversations about where we should hole up and not talk to strangers. It is LESS than one week later and we are booked! In Barbados. Way to go, Mom and Barb!

Sapphire Beach, here I come. Suitcase stow-aways welcome!

Shall we?

Thanks Wikipedia! {It looks like a backwards Maine to me}

Fun Fact: Wikipedia (I know, I know) states that Barbados is the 3rd most developed country in the western hemisphere after US and Canada. Is this believable? I don't know? I guess, I mean they do play cricket there.
