On an Art Kick

Loving these paintings in the 'Best is Yet to Come' Series from German artist Nina Nolte. The colors are to die for and the paintings have a nostalgic, Mad Men type feel.

I can see looking back at pictures like these featuring my girlfriends somewhere far down the line.

Degas in the House

I'm no art history major (but I thoroughly enjoyed the class and carrying a 5-in stack of flash cards around with me for a semester), but I try to enjoy art. Degas has always been one of my favorites. His work depicts dance in a fascinating way. Degas works are on display at Boston's MFA til February. Hoping to get there before it's gone.

Who Never Forgets?

Even though I am a lady of the sea, as it turns out, I have quite a fondness for elephants. Who knew? I think they are quite majestic. And, when hand-drawn, darling. Feast on these elephants for the afternoon:

Real-life elephant!

Need to get away?

Another reminder there's a lot of world out there to see. 6,200+ pictures from a year of travel.

In other news, I'm a sucker for time-lapse videos

New friends

These are some of the friends I met and made on my trip. Now that I'm back at work, with a dusting of snow on the ground and a 4pm sunset, I've been missing hanging out with them in their house.

Allegra is excited!

That's a fish. Do you see him?

He looks very wise, no?

Oh, hello!

Fish again.

Handbag Hell

Ok. That's a bit dramatic, but I don't enjoy shopping for purses.

Confession: I've used the same purse since 2004 and same work bag since 2008. These facts aren't so shocking or even terrible. It represents my aversion to shopping, particularly for those items that most likely carry a large-ish price tag. Plus, I LOVE my work bag and still get compliments.

Another interesting turn-of events: in high school all the cool girls had Kate Spade. And then one day I got my own! And it was an awesome bag and an awesome day. (Equally memorable was the day it was stolen). Then, as often happens with these things, one day the cool girls were over it. And my Kate Spade bag and I were quite confused, so it was confined to the closet. And wouldn't you know it, Kate's bags are back with a vengeance. Perhaps I'll bring my vintage out of retirement.

Here are some I'm mulling:
Ame & Lulu. Wouldn't I look like a grown-up?

Oh, you thought I wouldn't post a pink one? The Leather Satchel Co.

Are you there?

Oh, hi. I miss it here. I cannot believe it's been so long. It's not for lack of inspiration, at all. It's seems some times that life gets in the way. There's a lot of places where I have an online footprint (Pinterest, Path, Words with friends, Instagram, Twitter) and sometimes the love gets spread.

One things for sure - my penchant for girly decor, nostalgia galore and obsession with design blogs have not changed. (Nor has my ability to procrastinate or all-out avoid leaving my house on Friday nights.)

So what's new with you, kids?

My family visited for Thanksgiving, my family and I went to Barbados for Christmas, it's been unseasonably warm, I've been cooking often and it's 2012. Phew. I think we're all caught up.

Pretty typical.

This little guy took the above photo.

Barbados!
Tell me all about you.
