Sweet Taste of Freedom

The weekend is mere moments away. I'm drooling over it.

Big plans to see my favorite band The Avett Brothers at the Newport Folk Festival (expect pictures), last minute sold-out Black Keys concert and at least one secret getaway to the beach. I can't wait to be outside in a breezy dress, with a mid-day cocktail and New England's excuse for hippies by my side.

Quite a line-up

A girl can dream, no?

How will you celebrate the brief sip of freedom?Tell me everything.

1,000 words (x 5)

Feeling really moved by these black & white snapshots right now. The mood seems to match my own and the moments captured quiet my brain, albeit slightly.

Some current favorites include Louis Stettner, Barbara Czartoryska and Yasuhiro Ishimoto.

Oh Barbara.
These cars look classier than today's.

Guess I have boobs and cars on my mind. So, I guess, not that unusual for me, in the end.

I would walk 500 miles

This video isn't terribly groundbreaking, yet I find it compelling. This group of friends travelled in an RV for two weeks taking still photos of their friend walking across the country. Sewn together, it created a story of one man's journey across the US, passing familiar landmarks on the way.

There have been hundreds (undoubtedly more, in all likelihood) of videos that explore the concept of stitching together still photos or time-lapsed photography. Simple concept, moving videos.

Here's "Guy Walks Across America".

Buzzed off color

This Design Sponge sneak preview of Kelly Teasley's place included a lot of inspiring looks. Love her bold, aggressive use of color.

This pink is a perfect highlighter shade.

These are bathrooms I can get behind.

Countryfest Ensemble Possibility

I want to rock this $39 number to Countryfest. Minus the sock/sandal bidness. Thoughts?

Things that are Absurd

Hi.

Things have been unnecessarily heavy recently. But then I saw this and knew it was way too good to pass up. It's one of those things that would be hysterical, did it not actually exist.

Let me be the first to introduce a product called Subtle Butt, a flatulence-neutralizing undie insert. Yea, not a joke. Gawker told me all about it. These fart-patches are back in stock (phew, breathing easier) and 5 will set you back $12.

I think more alarming may be some of the sister products, like a camel-toe protector insert or a portable pocket called a pocksie. Suddenly I'm fascinated by this company "Solutions that Stick," a company led by 4 fearless women, aiming to change the world one sticker at a time.

What will they think of next?

Dreaming in All White

Woah. I'm not usually one for the all-white look. But not this time. I was all ooooh's and ahhh's as I flipped through the Cyrus Company catalogue. Just for today, let's pretend this is all in our price range, we never spill red wine and all-white living arrangements are remotely feasible. I promise the idea will be worth it. Even just for a moment.

Adore this shape

Oeuf! This chandelier!

This bed is calling me

This reminds me of my little sister

I am obsessed with this headboard.

Some of my Favorite Furry Friends

I have a pet-friendly office so I get to spend lots of time cuddling with different creatures. My office has been home to plenty of dogs, one mischievous kitten and even one (very female) iguana.

Here are some shots of my work-loves:

Hey, What is this thing?-Gutley

Gutley and Baby Rosie

Newest Girl: Cleo. Her owner thinks she's a boy. She's also nuts.

This is Murg. Murg is a trouble-maker.

Jessie with Julian. Julian is very soft.

And, one more.

My baby, Sonic, who's now in puppy heaven.

Happy (Belated) Birthday Dad!

It's my Daddy's 74th birthday today. Cheers to a great friend, a ferocious golfer, a caring doctor, a phenomenal chef, an avid drinker of spirits and my mom's best friend. Oh, and also, a father of 7, grandfather of 10!
Love you dad.

Sadly this didn't post correctly yesterday, so it's a day late. He loves me anyway.

Inspiration for the Day

"Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle"

I think we often forget that this is true, at least I know I do. It's hard to tell when someone has something major going on in their life, even if it's only major to them. But often, it's not—it's actually major. Family illness or personal illness or unemployment, any of those things are generally pretty tragic and hard to cope with.

Just a reminder to smile a bit extra today. And to those of you who have been smiling extra at me or at strangers recently, thank you.

Weekend Getaway: Martha's Vineyard

Hi. I have this secret. I've never been to Martha's Vineyard. But that's all changing this afternoon. I'm off to find this Gingerbread house (with a secondary mission of locating the Handler's Vineyard home).

Wish me luck. See you on Monday, interweb friends.

A Fabulous and Classy Fourth!

I was lucky enough to be asked to cohost a 4th of July Part overlooking the river on Beacon Street. We had a blast putting the details together and with the help of one decorator and one (God-sent) bartender, the party was a huge success.

222 Beacon is post-worthy all on it's own; an apartment with glorious bones and breathtaking views. The 15 foot ceilings don't hurt either. The apartment is designed for a bachelor, but has a definite designer's touch with plenty of art and antiques to feast your eyes on.

Some party highlights (pronounced hig-a-lig-its):

Our friend Vanessa came in from New York and helped us set up.

Arestia and me!

Party prep

Not a bad sunset, no?

Our classy party wasn't too stuffy.

A little display.

All the co-hosts.

Help with a *Serious* Decision!

It's senior portrait time for one baby Squitieri. Help choose the winner. I've selected a handful of my favorites--leave me a note and let me know which you like best. I like that the Wagner Portrait Group captures a mischievous sparkle in her eye and cute little smirk. Some of these say "Classic" while others say "I'm 18, Woo hoo!"

Let's help her make a memory.
