Is Bigger Better?

Well, yes. For certain things, like paychecks and karat size, obviously. But for the rest of my life, if the options come in large or cozy, I'll often opt for cozy. Just about the way to make anything cuter is by making it pint-sized.

This has been a summer of concerts. We've traveled to enormous festivals complete with tailgating and intimate venues with probably only 200 or so people. And decidedly, the smaller, the better. I'm over concerts at arenas, period. I wouldn't deny that's the goal for many recording artists, but as a consumer, it is not a good way to absorb the experience. It becomes all popcorn and drunks rather than emotions and adrenaline.

This is what a concert looks like at Gilette.

This is the Newport Blues Cafe.  And what it's like to see Stephen Kellogg and the 6kers there.

So, in conclusion, I'll choose small in the future and leave the arenas to the kids. Because now that I am 25, I'm just a bit wiser.

Too long...

I'm sorry. It's been crazy-crazy around here. The good news is a full recovery will be made and we all appreciate each other a bit more now. Thanks to everyone who sent well-wishes. We appreciate them.

So, still not a ton of time to blog, butttt, I really enjoy this picture I snapped on the way to Country Music Festival this weekend. We parked in a lot off the beaten track and walked along train tracks to the entrance.

More soon, I promise.

Glorious Return!

I made it back from the Lou, heavier in body and lighter in photos (400+ lighter, thanks very much Apple store).

We had a great time and ran around like mad people and ate and drank and were merry. Thanks to my family for the birthday celebration(s). My Aunt Barb came in from Chicago which was super fun. Sadly, my pictures are mostly kaput from delicious Saint Louis restaurant Niche, but rest assured, it was a delightful dinner.

Here are some photos, taken by Barb's husband Peter of the sites in my neighborhood. I've learned that I prefer stone houses, particularly white stones, to New England style.

Enjoy!

Unexpected Outage

Hi,

I'm visiting my family and friends in St. Louis without much posting as this week zoooooms by. Back next week, kiddos. Enjoy the weekend!

PS Decided I'm buying a Flip camera to save some memories for posterity's sake. Watch out for ACH videos coming down the line.

Round 2: Sucks or Awesome?

It's Friday and we are lazy. Here's another riveting round of classifying things into either 'Sucks' or 'Awesome':

Car-related topics:
Buying a new car sucks? Awesome. Sucks. Debatable.
Being rear-ended in Maine: Sucks, sucks, sucks!
Everyone being ok though: Quite awesome.
Driving new car after driving rental Impala for 2 weeks: Awesome like a Ferrari.

Dating-related topics:
Just because flowers: Awesome & makes your day.
Smiley face flower platter adorned with pipe cleaner: AWESOME. Stories for days.
The boys shared a post-date awesome regarding flatulence, but I weigh in as: sucks.
The fragility of dating (timing, game-playing and baggage): sucks. A lot.

Beach-related topics:
Beautiful beach days with friends: Awesome, duh.
Losing/breaking a flip-flop: Sucks and is painful.
A beach with literally no shade: Sucks, unless you hide under the 20 year old's lifeguard stand, then, hilarious.
Horseflies: Without question, suckiest.
South-shore tattoos: ZOMG. Mind-blowing. Awesome.
The teenagers who bring their radio and bitch about weighing 110 lbs: Ugh, sucks.

Stand-alone topic: The 'Ha-ha' game is awesome!!!

This game is so fun and leads to so many laughs. You should really turn to the person next to you to chronicle classifying everything in life into these two categories.

Last Minute Change of Plans

From this:

To this:

So I'll enjoy one of these:

Catching a baseball is just so American & summertime & happiness, especially when you can walk home from Fenway.

PS Happy 26th anniversary to my two favorite parents!

Stop What You are Doing

And engross yourself in these photos. Taken across America between 1939-1943, they are some of the only color photos from the Depression era. They are striking. In some ways, they are striking because America looks very much the same. People dressed, danced, smiled and picnicked just as we do now. Others, like school children donning overalls with filthy feet, are a little farther outside of the norm.

Either way, the results are stunning. Some are even haunting.

Those are some dirty tootsies.

Love the car.

Circus!
Love that Chicago Rocked an Enormous PBR ad.

These kids could literally be there this afternoon.

View them all here. I really recommend looking at them all.
