And engross yourself in these photos. Taken across America between 1939-1943, they are some of the only color photos from the Depression era. They are striking. In some ways, they are striking because America looks very much the same. People dressed, danced, smiled and picnicked just as we do now. Others, like school children donning overalls with filthy feet, are a little farther outside of the norm.
Either way, the results are stunning. Some are even haunting.

Some of the photos were taken in towns I grew up next to (Southington, CT.. and Derby, CT isn't too far away).
